AUGUST 2020
INDIVIDUAL EARLY ARRIVAL Individual early arrival is not available for Fall 2020. If there are extenuating circumstances in which a student must arrive and stay on campus earlier than the stated move-in dates, they should email the Department of Residence, residence@uni.edu, with their request.
GROUP EARLY ARRIVAL Students part of a group that will be arriving early, such as those participating in a fall sport, Marching Band, Jump Start, etc. will receive information directly from their group organizer who will make those arrangements with the Department of Residence on behalf of their students.
Group Organizers: Groups can arrive as early as August 1 at a cost of $40/day which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner in the dining center. The requesting group/department is responsible for early arrival costs and pay via departmental charge.

Q: When can returning students move in? A: Please see the move-in calendar above.
Q: I’m a new student moving in on Wednesday, but can’t make the move-in time set up for my house, what do I do? A: We post recommended move-in times to help relieve congestion in the parking lots, elevators, stairwells and check-in lines. However, they are only recommended and students can move-in when it’s convenient for their schedule.
Q: How does early arrival work for returning students on the Live 2 Succeed program? A: See the move-in calendar above for arrival dates. You are able to move-in one day earlier than the start of your housing contract at no charge. Those in their second year of the Live 2 Succeed program do not need to sign up for individual early arrival.
If you are part of a group that is moving in prior to the first individual early arrival date, you would not be able to move in any earlier. However, if your group is moving in after the first individual early arrival date, you would be able to move in a day early at no charge.
Students who are part of a group and want to use this benefit can use it starting August 14 by signing up online as an individual. Students will need to sign up, but will not be billed for the day as it is your benefit you are using.
You cannot use your move in benefit prior to August 14. Students who arrive as part of a group prior to August 14 will not be eligible to use their move in benefit, as the cost would be covered by the group, and individuals cannot arrive prior to August 14.
Q: If I am part of a group, how do I find out my early arrival move-in date? A: If you are part of a group, contact that group’s coordinator to find out your early arrival date. Each group does this differently and may have staggered days within the group for move-in based on your role in the group. Your group will be the most accurate source for this information.
Q: If I am part of a group and want to move in a day before my group has me registered, can I do that? A: Any individual can arrive as early as our first day of individual early arrival (see calendar) by completing the individual early arrival form. If your group is moving in prior to the first individual early arrival date, you would not be able to move in any earlier.
Q: If I am a returning student on the Live 2 Succeed program, do I still get to move in a day early, even if I’m part of a group arriving early? A: Any individual can arrive as early as our first day of individual early arrival (see calendar) by completing the individual early arrival form. If your group is moving in prior to the first individual early arrival date, you would not be able to move in any earlier. This includes those on the Live 2 Succeed program.
Q: If I sign up early, but am also part of a group, who will pay for my stay? A: Students who arrive as an individual will be charged on their U-bill. Students who arrive as part of a group would not be responsible for any charges, as the group will cover those costs. However, if you arrive earlier than when the group has you registered and it’s on or after the first day of individual early arrival, the individual student would be responsible for any early arrival charges prior to the first day of the group reservation date.
Q: If I am signing up a group and the group will not be eating meals, can we get a discounted rate? A: The daily rate is all inclusive of room and meal charges, regardless of whether the group chooses to eat with us.
