Go beyond just attending, get involved!

We have three opportunities for delegates to be a part of the conference action. You can submit an entry in the Case Study Competition, a Program Proposal or a Bulletin Board/Door Decoration.

Case Study Competition

Participating in Case Study Competition is a great way for delegates to benefit from the evaluation of a situation, share ideas, and connect with peers and colleagues from other institutions that may positively impact your career and your life. The case studies will allow participants to deal with a problem or issue that they would likely confront or handle on their home campuses. There are two options to choose from:

Option 1: Easy

This option presents student staff members with a basic problem that examines low level conflict mediation skills, problem solving skills, and community building skills.

Option 2: Difficult

This option allows participants to engage in problem solving by not only utilizing the skills they have developed, but also demonstrate their own personal identity growth and development. Participants will be asked to critically think through the scenario and challenge themselves to think beyond their role as an RA.

Every participant will receive their case study scenario prior to the conference via email. Participants can choose to sign up with a partner from their school or elect to have a partner from another institution. If participants choose to present with someone from another school, emails will be exchanged with the case study scenario email.

Each group will present a ten-minute presentation, followed by five minutes for Q & A by the case study judges. Participants will then leave as judges discuss and evaluate the presentation. Awards for each level of case study will be presented at the end of the conference.

Case Study Participants can stop by the Case Study info table at the Welcome Social/Friday Night Entertainment if they have any questions.

We welcome all professional staff members to be a judge for the Case Study Competition. Case Study Judges will pick up their judging packets and ask any questions they may have at the Case Study info table at the Welcome Social/Friday Night Entertainment or prior to the competition Saturday morning.

Program Proposal

The UNI RA Conference runs on programs, so we need you to share your ideas and experiences with your peers. You are welcome to present on your own or with another delegate.

Program Tracks
All program sessions are 40 minutes long and are not separated into specific tracks. Those who submit programs have the opportunity to tag their programs with any combination of the following options:

First Year RAs
Returning RAs
RAs for First-Year Students
RAs for Upper Division Students
Advisors

Submit a Program Proposal

Submitted programs will be reviewed by the RA Conference team; however, we are only able to offer slots to a finite number of presenters. You’ll hear back from the team in January about whether or not your program has been accepted.

We value having institutions share their experiences and want to further encourage your participation with program presentations. With that, institutions that have one or more program submissions accepted and delivered during the conference will receive a reimbursement for further contributing to the conference. The amount reimbursed will match the price of one delegate and their overall cost incurred (On-Campus Delegate-$130 or Off-Campus Delegate-$110).

Bulletin Boards & Door Decorations

We want to highlight the amazing bulletin boards and door decorations RAs from all over create for their residents. Awards will be given at the conclusion of the conference to recognize our high scoring submissions.

Bulletin Boards
We’re excited to share that bulletin boards will have the ability to be presented physically and digitally! For the physical presentation, anyone can bring a display of your bulletin board. If you are presenting digitally, anyone is welcome to submit photos and information about a bulletin board they’ve created in the RA role. We’ll have a designated gallery for your bulletin boards, using screens for our digital presenters and tables for those presenting physically so that everyone can see your creations.

Door Decorations
We will also have a door decoration gallery for attendees to enter a submission (limit one per attendee). There will only be a physical door decoration gallery. While you are asked to submit a photo of your door decoration, this will only be used to ensure its eligibility into the gallery. Your entry will not be considered for eligibility for a prize unless you bring a physical copy to the conference. We will have awards for the top 3 door decorations of the RA Conference.
